What an electrician can do for your home or business

A licensed electrician installs, repairs, adds to and alters the wiring and electrical equipment in a building, from a single power point to a new switchboard. In NSW that work must be done by a licensed electrician, and it is certified with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW). Peter works as both a domestic and commercial electrician: houses and apartments, strata buildings, shops, cafes and offices. The electrician services below are grouped by the kind of job.

Emergency

  • 24/7 emergency

Emergency callouts across the Eastern Suburbs: sparks, burning smells, no power, water in electrics.

Faults & repairs

  • Electrical faults

Tracing the root cause rather than patching the symptom, so it does not come back.

Safety & compliance

  • Switchboard upgrades

Replacing ceramic fuses and overloaded boards with a modern, properly protected switchboard.

  • Electrical inspections

A documented check of your installation, for peace of mind or before you buy.

  • Exit & emergency lighting

Installation and the six-monthly testing your building is legally required to hold.

  • Safety switches

RCD installation and testing: the device that cuts the power when it detects current leaking to earth.

  • Smoke alarms

Compliant interconnected alarms, hard-wired and positioned to NSW requirements.

  • Surge protection

Protecting everything downstream from spikes off the grid and summer storms.

  • Test & tag

Appliance testing and tagging for workplaces, with records that satisfy an audit.

Lighting

  • Garden lighting

Outdoor and landscape lighting that extends the house into the garden after dark.

  • LED lighting

LED downlights that use about 75% less energy than halogen and last 5 to 10 times longer.

  • Lighting design

Layered lighting planned room by room, not a grid of downlights in a ceiling.

  • Pool lights

Pool and water-feature lighting installed to the strict wet-area standards.

Power & switching

  • Dimmers

Correctly matched dimmers, so LEDs actually dim instead of flickering and buzzing.

  • Powerpoints

New outlets, relocations and USB points — including in older brick and heritage walls.

  • Switches

Replacements, relocations and two-way switching done cleanly.

Appliances

  • Ceiling fans

Supply and install, including replacing a light fitting with a fan on an existing point.

  • Cooktops & ovens

Dedicated circuits for induction cooktops, ovens and stoves.

Data & communications

  • TV antennas

Antenna installation, repairs and extra outlets — including poor-reception pockets.

Commercial

  • Residential

New homes, renovations, extensions, installations and troubleshooting.

  • Shop & office fit-outs

Full fit-outs and refurbishments for retail and hospitality since 2011.

Strata & property

Specialist

  • Ausgrid defect notices

What an Ausgrid defect notice means, who can fix it, and an $80 remote photo inspection.

  • EMF home assessment

A 2–3 hour in-home assessment measuring electric, magnetic and radio-frequency fields.

Why does my safety switch keep tripping?

A safety switch (RCD) trips when it detects electricity leaking to earth, usually through a faulty appliance, water in an outdoor fitting or damaged wiring.

Why do my lights flicker?

One flickering light is usually the globe, a loose globe, or an LED that does not suit the dimmer or transformer it is on.
