LED Light Installation Sydney

Why you should consider LED light installation Sydney

  • Longer Lasting
  • Directional Lighting
  • Minimal ultra-violet or Infra-red emissions
  • Energy Savings

Light emitting diode (LED) lighting is a rapidly developing technology that is offering useful alternatives to traditional incandescent, fluorescent and halogen lighting . Good quality LEDs provide excellent lighting and offer major benefits.

Good quality LED’s have a lifespan of 30000-40000 working hours. In real terms, leaving your lights on for 8 hours a day 365 days of the year you can expect a lifespan between 7 and 14 years. The obvious benefit is the lowered maintenance costs and inconvenience of having to replace globes more regularly and in hard to reach pplaces like Atriums and stairwells

One of the defining features of LEDs is that they emit light in a specific direction, which reduces the need for reflectors and diffusers that can lower efficiency. By comparison, Compact Fluorescents (CFL), Halogen and Incandescent globes only emit 50 to 60% of the total light produced whilst the remainder is lost in the light fitting and surrounds.

Another benefit is that LED’s emission of Ultra Violet (UV) and Infra-Red (IR) is significantly lower compared to traditional lighting sources. Most of the radiation exists outside the visible range and the better quality LED’s the less UV and IR are present. This is significant when considering a Lighting Layout in Galleries, homes and business with expensive wall paper and art work.

Arguably, the greatest benefit comes by way of their running costs. At 80% more efficient than traditional incandescent globes and marginally less for Halogen and CFL’s it pays to make the switch. Energy usage has become more important in recent years with rising power costs. On average , lighting contributes to around 11% of household energy use and by installing LEDs you can minimize this to around 3%.

Furthermore, because LED’s do not omit heat like Incandescent and Halogen globes they are less of a fire hazard.

Please Note: tests on some LED products found in the Australian marketplace indicate that there is significant variation in product quality. These variations are due to the design and quality of LED’s and the fittings they are housed in. There are standards and ENERGY STAR® criteria that can assist buyers to make informed decisions when evaluating LED lighting. Please refer to Lighting Council Australia’s LED Buyers Guide for more information on selecting quality and efficient LED products.
