How the guides on this website are written, checked and corrected.
Who writes them
Eleven guides began as Peter Stafford's own articles on Ambient Electrical's previous website, first published between 2016 and 2019. They are republished under his name, most at their original addresses, reorganised into questions and answers, with his facts and quotes kept. Each shows the date it was first published.
Eight guides are published under the Ambient Electrical name. They were drafted during the 2026 rebuild of this website from the site's own facts and public information.
Use of AI
The 2026 rewrites and the new guides were drafted with the help of AI writing tools, by the people who rebuilt this website, working from Peter's articles, the facts on this website and public sources.
Who checks them
Peter reads each guide against his own experience as a licensed electrician. When he has, the byline says so, with the date. A guide without that line has not been checked by him yet.
Sources
Where a guide relies on an outside source, such as an Ausgrid or NSW Government page, the link is listed under Sources at the end of the guide.
What the guides will not do
In NSW, electrical wiring work must be done by a licensed electrician. The guides explain what you are seeing, what is safe to check yourself, such as resetting a safety switch, and when to call. They never give step-by-step instructions for fixed wiring. They are general information, not advice about your installation.
The guides carry no advertising and no sponsored content.
Dates
Each guide shows when it was first published and when its text last changed. The updated date moves only when the text does.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, email ambientelectrical@hotmail.com. A correction is made on the guide itself and listed at the end of it with the date.
